“We are up for several awards this year,” said Tom Luther, Site Director at StarTek Inc. Located at 850 West Fourth Street, Mansfield, StarTek provides technical support and billing questions for several major clients. Considered along with over 300 other companies, Star Tek was nominated by IQPC (International Quality Productive Center) and awarded Best-In-Class Call Center for a staff of over 200 at the 2013 Call Center Excellence Awards held in Las Vegas in June.
Several key elements were part of the process to qualify for the award. Along with an application submitted for consideration, call center metric performance, financial reviews, an in-depth review of company culture and attrition/retention all played a role in the decision making process.
Luther attributed the recent award and growing success of StarTek to recent changes in management and the newly adopted campaign and approach that focuses on an employee centric atmosphere.
“We are building an employee-first culture here at StarTek,” added Luther.
The acknowledgment of past challenges and pride in their impact on community serves to navigate the company as they move forward with a ‘new management’, ‘new culture’, ‘new attitude’ approach.
“Star Tek recognizes past challenges and has worked to build an employee-friendly culture in which they [employees] will be developed as professionals and as brand warriors,” stated Luther.
Key areas the company is focusing on is providing intensive and robust training as well as providing an atmosphere conducive to employee appreciation and recognition.
Luther noted that the facility provides its employees with a on-site cafeteria, cyber cafe and an employee lounge complete with pool table, flat screen t.v. and comfortable lounging area.
With an open door policy Luther added the changes are something he invites the public to see for themselves, adding he would give a personal tour to those interested in employment or just wanting to know what StarTek is about and what it offers.
“First and foremost, StarTek has been great for Mansfield,” stated Luther adding that over the course of the last five and half years the company has provided several thousand jobs.
Luther went on to say that although the company is proud of their impact and involvement in the community they often choose to do so in a low profile way. He added that many people may not be aware that they were one of the sponsors of the new electronic scoreboard recently erected on Arlin Field. They also contributed to Habitat for Humanity, Stuff the Bin, and participated in local soup kitchens and over the course of the past year took an active sponsorship of local youth leagues.
Star Tek’s vision is to continue with a positive approach and a goal to hire 100 people by Halloween.
“We are building an employee-first culture here at StarTek,” said Tom Luther.
