Spitzer Motors in Mansfield realized their goal to move to a new location this week as they left their Park Avenue Mansfield location behind. It was not the ideal location, according to General Manager Matt Studer.
The new location, on West Fourth Street, is expected to bring in new jobs as well. There are over 50 positions in sales, tech, detail areas, secretarial, and administration available. Even the new position of a “greeter” is available.
This new location is closer to the highway, which is expected to bring in new customers and make more of a community presence. “The new building will give everyone easier access. I think it was easier to forget about us at the old spot,” said Studer.
Studer, 41, has worked at Spitzer for 14 years now. He graduated from Bucyrus High school in 1990 and now lives with his wife and 3-year-old son in Crestline. Achievement has been a trend in his life since his early days in school, with a number of junior achievement awards; and now it is apparent in his work with Spitzer. He was a sales manager in January of 2004 and by June of that year became the General Manager.
His brother, Aric Studer, also works alongside as the sales manager. Aric, 27, has been working at Spitzer for nine years now. “Working with him isn’t bad, really. There are ups and downs just like any sibling relationship. But it all works out,” said Aric Studer with a smile. He graduated from Ohio State University at Mansfield with a business degree.
According to National Auto Dealers Association (NADA.org), 2009 suffered the largest deficit in new car sales with an average of $26.6 million. In 2007, that number was $33.3 million. As of 2011, however, national car sales experienced a bubble with an increase to $34.7 million. In 2008, when the national economy went into a recession, Spitzer Motors in Mansfield felt the crush as well. According to Matt Studer, sales were flat for a long time.
Spitzer added on Chrysler and Jeep to their new branch. “When the weather gets better we’ll start working on the second building, which will be for KIA,” said Studer.
The staff moved in on Saturday, July 20. Their first day of business, however, was Monday, July 22.
