NEOS Dance Theatre will offer a free performance at the Guy C. Myers Memorial Band Shell on July 26, fro,, 8-9 p.m. followed by a wine and beer tasting event at the Mitchell’s Orchard and Farm Market in Ashland.
Akron and Mansfield based dance troupe, founded by Ashland residents Bobby and Brooke Wesner, will perform sections of their repertoire with previews of new and upcoming choreography followed by a meet and greet opportunity with the professional dancers at Mitchell’s Orchard.
Neos Dance Theatre will preview sections of new repertoire acquired by choreographer Penny Saunders of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC). Penny choreographed her first piece for them in 2012 titled Bonobo. Presenting the most up and coming choreography and choreographers in the nation is a long-standing goal of Neos Dance Theatre and this work is the second of such works from Chicago based HSDC choreographers. Also on the program Artistic Director Bobby Wesner will preview a new work that will premier in its entirety in Akron just two weeks later. Wesner’s choreography will pay tribute to love and will be set to the music of Nashville’s independent artist, Timbre Cierpke, a classical harpist, composer, and singer. Neos recently performed with her live in Mansfield and Wesner states “I’ve been enamored with her music ever since”. Additional works on the program will be announced that evening. Donations will be accepted to support Neos Dance Theatre.
After the performance Neos Dance Theatre dancers will join the attendees of a fundraising event at Mitchells Orchard benefiting Neos Dance Theatre. A Wine and Beer Tasting will take place from 8 – 11:30 PM and will include time with the professional dancers of Neos, hors d’oeuvres, eight wine or beer pours, snacks, and live musical entertainment.
