DeVito’s 400 yards, 5 TDs lead Shelby to regional title win over Galion

One of Ohio high school football’s oldest rivalries, Shelby (13-0) and Galion (11-2) met for the 123rd time on Friday night.

The Whippets 49-7 win over Lima Bath in Friday’s regional semifinal marked Mahaney’s 100th career victory as a head coach.

Knocking off the Wildcats 49-7, Shelby (12-0) punched its ticket to the Div. IV Region 14 championship game next Friday.

The Whippets pitched their fourth shutout of the year, 42-0, to earn their spot in a Div. IV Region 14 semifinal next Friday.

Shelby added an outright MOAC title to its resume this season with a 37-6 win over Marion Harding on Friday.

Shelby can claim an outright Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference championship next week with a win at Marion Harding.

The win also earned Shelby a top-four seed in the Division IV, Region 14 playoffs — meaning the Whippets will boast a first-round bye.

Shelby’s Brady Bowman caught six passes for 209 yards Friday night in Shelby’s (7-0, 4-0) 52-14 routing of Clear Fork (5-2, 3-1).

A week after speeding past Highland 48-0, the Whippets (6-0, 3-0) controlled River Valley (2-4, 1-2) on the road Friday 42-0.

After a Week 4 scare against Galion, Shelby pitched a 48-0 shutout of Highland on Friday night at the Whippet Athletic Complex.
