MANSFIELD -- Richland Source sports reporter Curt Conrad and reporter Noah Jones each won awards in the Ohio Prep Sportswriter's Association honors released on Thursday.

Competing in Division I with sports reporters from the Columbus Dispatch, the Dayton Daily News, and WCPO of Cincinnati among others, Jones earned a first-place honor, while Conrad captured two third-place awards.

Jones won the Investigative/Enterprise category for his story titled: Head Trauma: Area Football Teams Work to Lessen the Impact.

Conrad's feature boosting Lexington's Cade Stover for Mr. Football was titled: Election Season: Lexington’s Stove a Candidate for Mr. Football, tied for third in the column category -- and proved to be correct when Stover did indeed win the award in December.

The Hillsdale graduate also tied for third in game story for his piece titled: Kirtland nips Maria Stein Marion Local, part of Richland Source's coverage of the state football championship weekend.

Mansfield high school sports fans have been spoiled for decades with quality sports writing, and Richland Source is proud to continue that tradition.

Kudos to our neighbors down the street, too. News Journal sports reporter Jon Spencer was Sportswriter of the Year in Division I (for the fifth time in his illustrious career), while Plymouth graduate Jacob Furr won a pair of awards.

I've lived in Richland Co. since 1990, married here, our children were born here. This is home. I have two books published on a passion topic, Ohio high school football. Others: Buckeyes, Cavs, Bengals, Reds, History, Disney.
