MANSFIELD -- COVID-19 restrictions have led to a scaled-back version of the 15th annual Make A Difference Day Food Drive, scheduled on Friday at various sites.

The event, the goal of which is to restock local food pantries with drop-off points in several locations, according to organizer Doc Stumbo.

Cash, checks, non-perishable food items and canned goods can be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the rear parking lot of The Renaissance Theatre, 138 Park Ave. West.

The same donations can be made from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harmony House, 124 W. Third St., and Catholic Charities, 523 Park Ave. East, according to Stumbo, who said any size donation is appreciated.

"We hope people of Richland County will make this the biggest food drive in one day and help families make it through Thanksgiving," Stumbo said.

Stumbo said the local AFL-CIO and trade unions are getting together to bring items to The Renaissance. He said students at Sherman Elementary School in Mansfield are doing the same.
