ONTARIO – The Ontario Police Department will host its annual awards banquet on Feb. 26, recognizing the dedication, professionalism, and outstanding service of its officers and staff over the past year.
A highlight of this year’s ceremony will be the recognition of Officer Rod Roose and Officer Brody Martin for their lifesaving actions on Feb. 17, when they successfully utilized a LifeVac anti-choking device to save a community member experiencing a critical airway obstruction.
Their decisive response and training directly resulted in a life being saved.
“The actions of Officer Roose and Officer Martin reflect the very best of our profession,” Ontario Police Chief Tommy Hill stated. “Their ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure exemplifies our department’s commitment to protecting life and serving our community.”
In attendance at the banquet will be representatives from the LifeVac team based in New York. The team will join the department in recognizing the officers’ swift and effective actions and in expressing appreciation for their commitment to public safety.
The annual awards banquet serves as an opportunity to publicly recognize the achievements and service of Ontario Police personnel while reinforcing the department’s ongoing dedication to excellence, training, and community partnership.
The banquet is open to the public at 5:30 p.m. at the FOP Lodge 32, 315 Concord Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio 44906. It will remain open until the presentation of the life saving awards. After that, it will be shut down for a private event.
