MANSFIELD — Mansfield firefighters extinguished a fire Wednesday evening inside a commercial warehouse that created an estimated $300,000 in property and content losses.
No one was injured in the fire, which came as snow was intensifying during a winter weather advisory.
MFD responded to a sprinkler alarm at 41 Cairns Road at 7:34 p.m. on the city’s north side to a warehouse structure operated by American Standard.
Firefighters arrived to find light smoke visible from the warehouse, according to the incident report. A cleaning crew verified the blaze to firefighters and said there were no occupants inside.
The fire was found inside in a “four stack” row of several boxed and palletized sink faucets, a blaze kept in check by the building’s sprinkler system.

Firefighters used a handheld line connected to an engine to knock down the fire. They also shut off the gas line entering the building at the meter.
After the warehouse area was ventilated and smoke cleared, firefighters performed an “overhaul operation,” pulling apart debris and materials to douse any hidden hot spots that would allow the fire to rekindle.
An estimated 32 pallets of burned products were removed from the building. The department’s Fire Prevention Bureau was called to investigate the cause and Columbia Gas was notified regarding the gas service.
Mansfield firefighters were assisted by an automatic mutual aid request from the 179th Cyberspace Wing fire department, according to the incident report.
Fire department units remained on scene for approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes before completing operations.
