It’s one of the most common Medicare ads you’ll see this time of year: “$0 premium!” splashed across the screen. It sounds like a great deal—who wouldn’t want free coverage? But here’s the truth: $0 premium doesn’t mean $0 cost.
With Medicare Advantage, the “premium” is just one piece of the puzzle. You still have deductibles, copays for doctor visits and hospital stays, and maximum out-of-pocket costs to consider. A plan can advertise itself as $0 premium and still leave you paying thousands if you get sick or need ongoing care.
That doesn’t mean $0 premium plans are bad. For some people, they’re a great option. But they’re not automatically “free,” and they’re not automatically the best choice. The right plan depends on your health, your prescriptions, your doctors, and your budget.
This is where sitting down with someone who knows the details can make all the difference. I compare plans side by side so you can see exactly what “$0 premium” really means for you—not just what the ad says.
Don’t let fine print or flashy commercials mislead you. If you’re considering a $0 premium plan, make sure you know the full picture first.
