MANSFIELD — The Richland Early American Center for History (REACH) will be hosting its second Civil War Living History Days on June 14 and 15.

This free, family-friendly event will include period re-enactors providing historical talks with demonstrations and activities throughout the day.  There will be a food truck on site for the public.

The park’s historic buildings, including the blockhouse, cabin and forge, will be open for tours.

Visitors will be able to meet authentically-clad and quipped military and civilian reenactors who will discuss the daily lives of Civil War soldiers and the roles civilians played in supporting them.

Valerie Hamil of Galena, is the coordinator for this event. Valerie is also a 20-year Civil War reenactor who portrays The Civil War Herb Lady of Ohio along with Major Pauline Cushman, Spy of the Cumberland.

Other reenactors will include Michael Rhodes, a wet plate collodion photographer with a traveling tintype studio, President Jefferson Davis and Varina Davis, the only First Lady of the Confederate States of America.

In addition, guests will also have the chance to see two mountain howitzers, a re-enactor ladies tea and a candlelight tour scheduled for Saturday evening.
