Marion “Dick” Ewing, 89, of Mansfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016.

Dick was born on Nov. 9, 1926, in Delphi, Ohio, to Clifford and Hazel (Keifer) Ewing. Dick was saved at the age of 69, and was a member of Zion’s Refuge Baptist Church, where he attended regularly. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Manderson Victory out of the Philippine Islands from 1944-1946.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, Dick and his son, Tom Maiyer, had the privilege to go to Washington DC on the “Honor Flight” for Korean and WWII Veterans. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 9943. He retired from Gorman Rupp Pumps in 1988 after 35 years of service, and then helped out on order day at Boliantz Hardware Store for 20 years after retirement.

He enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and Phase 10 at breakfast and lunch every day with his wife Lois. Dick always watched the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns games on TV, and even went to a few Indians games.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois (Rittenhouse) Ewing; two children, Tom (Suzi) Maiyer and Sherry (James) Hall, three step-children, Joyce Riddlebaugh, Connie (Doug) Boliantz and Todd (Teresa) Hudson, one sister, Helen Pry; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; Mother-and father-in-law, Homer and Minnie Rittenhouse; four brothers, Robert, Donald, Clarence, and Howard Ewing; one sister, Doris June Ewing; two step-children, Brenda McHale and Troy Hudson; one granddaughter, Jessica Boliantz; one step-son-in-law, Mike Riddlebaugh; and one brother-in-law, John Pry.

Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the funeral home with calling hours starting at 10 a.m. Pastor Dave Parsons will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park with R.C. Joint Veterans Burial Detail performing full Military Honors.
