MANSFIELD — Cloaked in mystery, the popular funk-rock band Here Come the Mummies (HCTM) will return to kickoff the Renaissance’s 2016-2017 Avita Health System Concert Series on Friday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m.
Tickets starting at $15 are available at MansfieldTickets.com and by calling the box office at 419-522- 2726. This performance is sponsored by Kleshinski, Morrison and Morris CPAS and Mansfield Distributing.
In 2014 HCTM released four, 5-song EPs, A La Mode, Pull it Off, Shocker, and MuertoDiesel. An adapted version of Rejuvannihilation, HCTM’s latest full-length concert film, aired across the US in season three of Public Television’s Front and Center. In September, HCTM’s song “Pants” aired on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
The 2015 Viral Tour brought HCTM to the lineup of the 15th annual Summer Camp Music Festival, Voodoo Fest, Common Ground, and Riverbend’s massive Coke stage. Highlights included HCTM jamming with moe. at Summer Camp in front of 20,000, a sold-out show at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works and a sold-out NYE show at Chattanooga’s Track 29, called the “greatest show in Chattanooga for 2015” by Chattanoogan.com.
In 2016, the band’s Love Fest Tour got off to a big bang with five sold-out shows at Louisville’s Mercury Ballroom, and in Dayton, Rockford, Kansas City, and Annapolis. HCTM has been asked back to Summer Camp Music Festival, and will be the only band in the 30-year history of Chattanooga’s Riverbend Festival to appear on the Coke stage two years in a row.
Last spring the band was back in the studio with a release coming later this year.
ABOUT THE BAND
Here Come the Mummies is an eight-piece funk-rock band of 5000 year-old Egyptian Mummies with a one-track mind. Their “Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave” is sure to get you into them (and possibly vice versa).
Since their discovery Here Come The Mummies has opened for P-Funk, Al Green, and Cheap Trick; rocked Super Bowl Village 2012; become a regular on The Bob and Tom Show; been invited to play Summer Camp Music Fest 2015/16, Common Ground 2015, Voodoo Fest 2015, Musikfest 2016, Summerfest, and Riverbend 2016; and sold tickets by the thousands across large swaths of North America.
Some say they were cursed after deflowering a great Pharaoh’s daughter. Others claim they are reincarnated Grammy-Winning studio musicians. Regardless, HCTM’s mysterious personas, cunning song-craft, and unrelenting live show will bend your brain, and melt your face.
