Opal (Kelly) Guarino, 91, of Oxford, Florida, passed Monday, July 11, 2016 at The Cornerstone Hospice House.
She was born in Lorain, Ohio on Oct. 9, 1924 to the late Robert Kelly and Jane (Brooks) Kelly.
She was raised in Norwalk, Ohio and graduated from Norwalk High School. She moved to Mansfield, Ohio during the war and worked at Westinghouse.
Opal was happily married to the late Joseph Guarino for 69 years. They owned and operated Joe Guarino’s Wholesale Produce.
Opal was a very loving, giving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Opal lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute of it. She was very adventuress and willing to experience new and challenging things. Her activities varied from water and snow skiing to ballroom dancing and clogging. She enjoyed cruises, traveling, theater, boating and even deep sea diving. She could never pass a garage sale, shopping opportunity or just entertaining friends. She was perhaps most talented as an artist that left many with paintings of life’s greatest beauties.
Opal is survived by three children, Robert Guarino, of Stockbridge, Georgia, Anita (Ron) Noble, of Mansfield, Ohio, Glenda (Tom) Wolff, of The Villages, Florida; seven grandchildren, Kim Cicolani, Kevin Noble, Wendy Nichols, Dean Daugherty, Ben Wolff, Christi Finder, Robert Joe Guarino Jr.; and nineteen great- grandchildren; and one sister Anna Bartlett.
In addition to her parents, Opal is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Guarino; a great-great grandson; and two sisters, Ruth Whatman and Paris Robertson.
Visitation for Opal will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. The memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Private burial will be at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
