John Michael LeVan, born 9/18/48, died at his home on 8/28/24 after a short illness due to pancreatic cancer.
A long-time Clintonville resident, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy Booth, and son Brian (Kelli), of Westerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Geri LeVan of Shelby, and his sister, Mary LeVan.
Mike was a graduate of Shelby High School ‘66, where he played varsity tennis, and OSU, Education ‘71. He was a long-time bartender at the downtown Pewter Mug and the Aspen Inn in Grandview. Mike supported his wife in her law practice; he was proud of Brian’s successes; he was a voracious reader; he enjoyed travel and had planned another trip to Paris in October; a lifelong Democrat, he enjoyed a good political debate; and, he was the full-time concierge for their many cat and dog rescues.
Over the years, Mike made known his wishes for cremation with no services, and his wishes will be honored. He had two final requests for family and friends: Vote Blue; and, for his golfing buddies, raise a glass at the 19th hole. Mike was exceptional. He was much loved and is dearly missed.
The LeVan family extends our deep appreciation to our many friends, neighbors, and Capital City Hospice for their kindness and support.
