Robin L. Young, 75, of Shelby, Ohio formerly of Mansfield and Ashland, passed away on Feb. 27, 2016. She was born Sept. 29, 1940, in Zanesville, Ohio. The second of three daughters to John Russell and Elizabeth C. Young.
Shortly afterwards the small family moved to Ashland, Ohio where Miss Young attended Osborn Grade School and Ashland High School. Upon graduation she then attended Ashland University where she was granted her Bachelor’s Degree. Her Masters Degree was obtained from the University of West Virginia at Morgantown, West Virginia.
Her first teaching assignment was at Mount Victory School in Mount Victory, Ohio where she taught English to grades 7-12. The next year she taught at River Valley in Marion, Ohio where she taught English and Problems of Democracy. The third year and for the remaining 28 years of her teaching career, she taught 7th grade at Ashland Middle School.When she later moved to Mansfield, she joined the East Hills Presbyterian Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher and an elder for a term.
She will be remembered for her love of Boxer dogs, which she had for 50 years. When she was no longer able to care for her boxers, she returned to her first love, cats.
She was survived by her younger sister, Mrs. Penelope (Penney) Sue Young McFarland, teaching at the University of Wollongong in Australia.

Graveside service will be held at Mansfield Cemetery on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 10 a.m.
