MANSFIELD — St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield has exceeded its minimum goal of $2 million in a capital fundraising campaign, according to the Rev. Gregory Hite,.

Hite made the announcement during services on Sunday. The project is titled “Preserving Our Past, Securing Our Future” capital campaign.

The campaign aims to renew and improve the church and school.

The congregation is now working to reach the challenge goal of $3 million, which would address the needs of the Robert Frye Gymnasium

In all, more than 80 volunteers worked on the effort and 398 members have made contributions toward its success, Hite noted.

The church was assisted in the effort by Walsh & Associates, Church Fundraising Specialists, a Burnsville, Minnesota based fundraising consulting firm.
