MANSFIELD — No matter where it’s contested, the Division II district tournament will be a street brawl.
The site of the district tournament has yet to be determined, but navigating the loaded field won’t be easy.
How loaded?
The 11 teams that make up the district boast a combined .611 winning percentage. Six have winning records and three others are within two games of .500.
Top-seeded Shelby (17-2) will host No. 11 Vermilion (5-14) in a sectional final at 7 p.m. March 1.
Second-seeded Lexington (19-1) will host either No. 8 Galion or No. 9 Clear Fork in a sectional championship game at 7 p.m. March 1. The Tigers (8-10) entertain the Colts (8-10) at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
Fifth-seeded Mansfield Senior (15-6) will host No. 10 Ontario (4-14) in a sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The winner will visit fourth-seeded Bellevue (15-4) at 7 p.m. March 1.
Division I
Madison will open the postseason on the road, while Ashland will host a first-round game.
The 19th-seeded Rams (1-19) will play at No. 8 Lima Senior (11-8) in a sectional semifinal game at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The winner will play at No. 3 Sandusky (17-1) for a sectional title at 7 p.m. March 1.
The 14th-ranked Arrows (9-11) will welcome No. 16 Fremont Ross (5-13) to Arrow Arena for a sectional semifinal game at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. The winner will visit No. 6 Toledo St. John’s at 7 p.m. March 1.
In the Central District, No. 31 Mount Vernon (10-10) has an opening-round bye. The Yellow Jackets will either play at No. 3 New Albany (16-4) or host No. 37 Thomas Worthington (7-13) at 7 p.m. March 1. New Albany hosts Thomas Worthington at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
Division III
Crestview earned the No. 1 seed in the 13-team Norwalk district field and opted for a first-round bye. The Cougars (18-1), who lost their first game of the year on a buzzer beater at Norwalk St. Paul on Saturday night, will host either No. 10 Northwood (5-12) or No. 11 Bucyrus (4-14) in a sectional final at 7 p.m. March 1. Northwood entertains Bucyrus at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
On the opposite side of the bracket, fourth-seeded Wynford (13-6) took a bye and will host either No. 5 Lake (12-6) or No. 8 Huron (7-11) in a sectional final at 7 p.m. March 1.
In the Northeast District, 17th-seeded Mapleton (13-6) took a bye and will host either No. 18 Youngstown Valley Christian (12-7) or No. 26 Burton Berkshire (9-9) at 7 p.m. March 1. No. 49 Loudonville (6-13) will either play at No. 7 Triway (15-5) or host No. 50 Black River (2-15) in a sectional final at 7 p.m. March 1. Triway entertains Black river at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
In the Central District, No. 8 Fredericktown (13-5) will visit No. 6 Fairbanks (18-4) at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
No. 16 Centerburg (9-10) has an opening-round bye and will play a sectional final road game against either No. 10 Cardington (14-6) or No. 15 Horizon Science Academy (10-11). Cardington hosts Horizon Science at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
No. 23 East Knox (2-16) will open the tournament at No. 1 Columbus Academy (16-3) or at No. 21 West Jefferson (4-15) at 7 p.m. March 1. Columbus Academy hosts West Jefferson in a sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
Division IV
Colonel Crawford earned the No. 1 seed in the top-heavy Division IV Willard District.
Only five of the 14 teams that feed into the district have a winning record. The other nine teams are a combined 36-132.
The top-seeded Eagles (14-5) took a first-round bye and await the winner of the sectional semifinal game between No. 7 Plymouth and No. 9 Buckeye Central. The Big Red (8-11) host the Bucks (3-14) at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 with the winner visiting Colonel Crawford at 7 p.m. March 1.
No. 3 seed Lucas (14-4) will host No. 12 Crestline (3-16) in a sectional semifinal game at 7 p.m. Feb. 28. No. 5 Mansfield Christian (15-4) entertains No. 13 New London (1-17) at 7 p.m. Feb. 28, while No. 14 St. Peter’s (2-16) is at No. 2 Seneca East (14-4) at 7 p.m. Feb. 28.
In the Northeast District, Hillsdale (14-5) earned the No. 10 seed. The Falcons will host No. 38 Salineville Southern at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
In the Central District, No. 18 Danville (4-17) visits No. 1 Northside Christian (12-5) in a sectional final at 1 p.m. March 2.
