COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lucas senior running back Mason Galco spearheaded a contingent of 15 Richland County football players who earned All-Ohio honors this week, according to the Associated Press.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound senior was a Division VII first-team selection on Wednesday night after leading the Cubs to their first two playoff wins in school history and a regional runner-up trophy.
He was joined on the All-Ohio squad by Madison junior receiver Tyrell Ajian. The 6-foot-1, 187-pounder was a second-team selection in Division III. The Rams’ star is the most highly-rated recruit in the county and has been offered by Notre Dame and Michigan State among other schools.
In Division II, Mansfield Senior junior running back Brian Benson (5-7, 170) also collected second-team accolades.
In Division IV, Shelby sophomore quarterback Brennan Armstrong (6-2, 190) was a second-team pick, as was Ontario senior Alex Vredenburgh (5-10, 170).
Galco’s teammate, Ryan Cook, a 5-11, 201-pound senior, was a second-team linebacker in Division VII.
Mansfield Senior linebacker Marvin Parker, 6-2, 205-pound senior, was a third-team honoree in Division II.
Mansfield Senior defensive lineman Mario Young was a special-mention choice in Division II. It was his first year of football.
Making special mention in Division III were Madison’s Sean Williams and Lexington’s Tony Gerrell.
The Division IV special-mention list includes Shelby’s Devin Tuttle, Devon Brooks and Dylan Shaffer.
In Division VII, two more Lucas Cubs were special-mention picks, Jacob Arnold and senior quarterback Rueben Luna.
