GALION, Ohio — The team of counselors and office administrators at Family Life Counseling and Psychiatric Services are excited to begin serving Galion and Crawford County residents. The non-profit recently opened a shop in their new location on Harding Way West next to Wendy’s.

“We had our first client on Oct. 5 and now were up to 15,” said Site Director Linda Efaw on Tuesday. “The idea was to serve Morrow and Crawford County residents more easily.”

Family Life Counseling and Psychiatric Services was founded in 1999 in Mansfield. The organization’s main campus is located at 151 Marion Avenue. Since then, the organization has grown to include locations in Danville, Millersburg, Shelby and Mansfield.

“We have been well-received by the community and are already seeing clients,” said Founder and CEO of Family Life Counseling Steven Burggraf in a press release. “With the opening of our Galion office, we have reaffirmed our commitment to reach those in need to provide mental health and substance-abuse counseling.”

Efaw said the building on Harding Way in Galion is only temporary.

“Until we find another bigger location in town,” she said, “we want to be able to have more consistent counselors move in. We hope to move in early spring next year.”

Efaw said the company is looking at real estate in Galion.

Since the location is temporary, counselors from different campuses commute. She said the Galion office has two regular counselors.

Family Life Counseling and Psychiatric Services offers more than 12 specialized mental health and substance abuse programs. Some include In-Home counseling services, an adolescent drug and alcohol program and a child play therapy program. Christian counseling is available upon request, said Efaw.

“We’re all about the family so we focus on the family unit. We want the family to be as happy and successful as they can be,” said Efaw.

Efaw has worked her entire career in the health care field. With almost a year under her belt with Family Life Counseling and Psychiatric Services, she is more ready than ever to continue to help individuals.

“It’s a challenge because this is a little foreign to me yet. But I love the opportunity I have to help people where they’re at. It doesn’t matter what scenario they’re in, we can help. And the need is here,” Efaw said.
