LEXINGTON — Mansfield native, Cameron Haring has owned DECA (Diversified Electronic Cables & Assemblies) Manufacturing at 300 South Mill Street in Lexington for one year.

He celebrated the anniversary and made the first formal announcement about his ownership Monday, Sept. 30 with a ribbon cutting ceremony organized by the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development.

“We had a really great turnout (for the ribbon cutting.) It was great to see people come out and show their support for the business,” Haring said. “It was really was special to have everyone’s support like this.”

Haring said, his first year was a “building year.” He’s working to diversify the business’s customer base in the near future and envisions 2020 as a year for “pivotal growth.”

Longterm, Haring hopes to have the plant powered 100 percent by renewable energy.

“We have some work to do to pull this off. It’s a sizeable place, but it’s lit up with LED lights and already got a low carbon footprint,” Haring said.

DECA Manufacturing is a contract manufacturer of custom electronic cables, wire harnesses, and assemblies. It opened in 1976, and it changed ownership once before Haring purchased it in August 2018.

“I’ve been looking for a small manufacturing business for the past three years,” Haring said. “It corresponds with my professional background.”

He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School, and then earned degrees from Miami University and Vanderbilt University. He then went on to work for a large manufacturing company — one that makes medical devices — for a decade.

“They taught me R&D (research and development) and product marketing, and that led me full circle to move back home,” Haring said.

He says this new venture is both “exciting and terrifying.”

“I have some great employees, and I’m looking forward to the future,” he said.

DECA Manufacturing operates out of a 20,000 square-foot space in a 30,000 square-foot building.
