“He has all the qualities we were looking for,” Lucas School Board President Roger Maglott said, confirming the hire of Dan Freund as superintendent. Freund recently announced his retirement from Mansfield City School after three years stating that he wanted to spend more time with his grandchildren.
“They called me after I announced my retirement,” said Freund. His plan to spend time with his grandchildren played a role in the decision-making process. “The part-time option was part of our conversation in regards to the position.” It made the reversal of his retirement much more appealing.
Freund will begin his new role as part-time superintendent on August 1.
“The position works for him and for us,” stated Maglott. “We will carry on with current programs and adding technology as our goal moving forward,” Maglott said.
Lucas superintendent Steve Dickerson retired effective July 31. He recently accepted the position of Superintendent at Hillsdale Local School District in Jeromesville.
