SHELBY — Nineteen Pioneer students participated in the SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships throughout the months of March and April at various locations around the state. These state-level events culminated in the SkillsUSA Ohio State Championship Awards Ceremony on April 25 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus.
Pioneer was named as a SkillsUSA Chapter of Excellence with the highest gold-level distinction.
Accepting this chapter-wide award was Pioneer’s State Delegate team of Ecco Bosworth (Galion), BreAnna Castor (Shelby), Sierra Fox (Ontario), Chloe Klepatzki (Galion) and Kayla Roberts (Northmor).
Earning a silver medal was Nolan Fraley (Buckeye Central) for Carpentry, Trevor Tallman (Lexington) for Diesel Equipment Technology and the Performing Arts team of Mikala Bell (Crestview), Brien Carpenter (Ontario), Destinee Hunt (Crestline), Emily Raff (Ontario) and Millie See (Buckeye Central). Earning a bronze medal was Trent Twining (Crestview) for Precision Machining. Pioneer’s State Competitors also included Nick Fike (Buckeye Central), Jacob Lear (Galion), Corbin Magistro (Lexington), Ethan Martin (Buckeye Central), Caden Myers (Ontario) and Robert Owen (Treca Digital Academy).
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
