Charlotte Mae Clapper, 88, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at Wedgewood Estates in Mansfield with family by her side.
Charlotte was born March 8, 1930 in Shadyside the daughter of Evelyn (Foreman) and Earl McNutt. After Charlotte graduated from Massillon High School, she attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
In 1950, she married James F. Clapper and they shared 43 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1993.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Mansfield and volunteered both at Kingwood Center and Mansfield General (now OhioHealth Hospital). Charlotte was also a member of the Philo sorority, the DAR, and the Mansfield Garden Club.
She loved music, was a beautiful piano player, and sang with the Mansfield Symphony Chorus. Always on-the-go, Charlotte travelled all over the world with her husband Jim and, when at home, enjoyed tending her beautiful flower garden.
She is survived by children James F. (Mary) Clapper, of Toledo, David M. (Toni) Clapper, of Atherton, California, Michael A. (Elaine) Clapper, of Bellville, and Suzanne (Chris) Busa, of Rochester Hills, Michigan; 10 grandchildren James III, Jennifer, Joseph, Jonathan, Jacob, Michael, Lauren, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Eric; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Barbara Cape and Diana McNutt.
Her family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her private family funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Celebrant Dave Roberts will officiate and private burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
Contributions in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made at her services.
