Richard Allen Marshall, 63, passed this life on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Mansfield Memorial Homes after an extended illness.

Mr. Marshall was born on Thursday, June 24, 1954 in Mansfield and was a life resident. Ricky as he was affectionately known was a member of the Mansfield Senior High School graduating class of 1972. After graduation Ricky enlisted into the Navy receiving an honorable discharge becoming a disabled veteran. He was employed with White Westinghouse, Inc. for several years until his disability would no longer allow his efforts.

Ricky attended the New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church. A logical thinker, Ricky started playing chess with his high school chess club which he enjoyed till the end of his life. Ricky had a creative side enjoying painting and writing music, which included writing a love song to his mother to honor her commitment to her children.

Ricky survived by his two sisters and one brother: Belinda (Johnny) Morgan, and Robert Marshall, of Mansfield, and Mary Marshall-McKinney, of Kansas City, Kansas; and 25 nieces and nephews.

Ricky was preceded in death by parents his Martha Marshall, and Charles “Youngblood” McFarland, and sister Esther Lofton.

Home Going service will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. in the New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church with Pastor Patricia Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. till time of the service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery with military services being conducted at graveside by the Richland County Veteran’s Burial Detail.
