Loretta Mae Smith

Loretta Mae Smith, 84, of Possum Run Road, Bellville, died Saturday evening, July 8, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family following an extended illness. Loretta was born July 10, 1932 in Marion and was the daughter of the late Roy and Edith Harbin McFadon. She was a Bellville area resident for the past 44 years previously living in Vermillion Twp., Ashland County. She worked as a cook for 19 years at San-Dar Smorgasbord, Bellville and also for the Hayesville-Vermillion School. She later worked at Essex Wire in Lexington. Loretta enjoyed quilting and was quite prolific, having sewn more than 20 quilts over the years. She also enjoyed playing cards and camping with friends and family. Loretta was a life-member of Perrysville VFW Auxiliary 8586 and Loudonville American Legion Auxiliary 257.

She is survived by her husband, Lee F. Smith, whom she married August 11, 1951; three sons: Darrell (Patty) Smith of Ackworth, GA, Bruce (Sherry) Smith and David (Stacie Pierce) Smith, all of rural Bellville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister: Helen Arnold of Waterford, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one granddaughter: Erin Smith in 1979.

Friends and family may visit Wednesday, July 12 from 1-3 p.m. in the LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE where funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. with Rev. Christine Radojcsics officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral services at the American Legion Post 257, 131 S. Water Street, Loudonville. Private family burial will be held in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Butler.
