Raymond N. Stevens, age 87 of Galion passed away Tuesday morning, May 26, 2015 at Galion Pointe in Galion.

He was born May 29, 1927, in Crawford County, and was the son of Cecil and Lottie (Steigerwald) Stevens. Raymond married Edith “Edie” (Balliett) Stevens on January 2, 1975 and she survives.

He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seaman during World War II. Raymond was a well- known local painter for 78 years. He attended the First Church of Christ in Galion and enjoyed horses, gardening and coon hunting.

In addition to his wife Edie, Ray is survived his step-son, Dennis (Debbie) Parish of Loveland, Ohio; his sisters, Fairy Pendleton and Virginia Smiley both of Galion and his brother, Norman “Sam” (Kay) Stevens of Galion.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Gerald, Robert and Walter Stevens.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society or the Galion Chapter of the American Red Cross in care of the funeral home.
