MANSFIELD — The Richland County Democratic Party invites the public to its headquarters tonight to watch as Hillary Clinton makes history when she accepts the Democratic presidential nomination.
The watch party will take place at 16 S. Park St. in downtown Mansfield, beginning at 7 p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring snacks to share.
“We have a first-rate headquarters and we are opening it up to the public and all people of good will who would like to come and join us in celebrating this historic occasion,” said Joseph Mudra, chairman of Richland County Democratic Party.
The local Democratic Party is excited about the general election in November, Mudra said.
“We’re aware of the fact that this a historic occasion where for the first time in the history of America a woman has been nominated for president of the United States and will move on to be elected as president of the United States,” he said. “There’s a significant amount of enthusiasm about her candidacy.”
Mudra believes Clinton’s chances of becoming the next president are promising.
“I think she has a very good chance of winning,” he said. “The Republican nominee sticks his foot in his mouth once a day and it’s hard for me to believe that the people of America are going to support that kind of idiocy.”
Locally, a conservative community could make this a challenging region for the Clinton ticket.
“Richland County is a difficult county to win, but we will do all we can to assist her in winning the county,” Mudra said.
