MANSFIELD, Ohio — A Richland County woman told sheriff’s deputies she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in an incident that took place over a number of days and ended Monday night.
According to a press release issued this morning by Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon, a 34-year-old man allegedly kidnapped a Possum Run Road woman from near her house on Friday, Feb. 12. The man, who was the woman’s ex-boyfriend, then took her to his home in Kettering. She said she was sexually and physically assaulted at his house in Kettering.
The woman told the sheriff’s department she was then returned to her house on Monday evening. That’s when she notified the authorities.
“On arrival, I was met by the victim at the door and she said she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted for several days,” Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Shoemaker wrote in the incident report.
The victim was treated and released from Ohio Health MedCentral, the press release stated.
Police in Kettering obtained a search warrant for the man’s home and reported finding drugs, Sheldon said. The man was then arrested by Kettering Police and incarcerated for charges related to the drugs found at his home.
Sheldon said his office is working with law enforcement in Kettering to determine what charges will be filed and in what jurisdiction.
“It’s too early to know that right now,” Sheldon said.
