MANSFIELD, Ohio — Mansfield City Schools will vote to hire a treasurer, Robert Kuehnle, Tuesday evening during a special meeting.

The hire, if passed by the board of education, will mark the end of a seven-month search for a treasurer.

Kuehnle has served as treasurer for Benjamin Logan Local School District at Bellafontaine for 12 years.

Details outlining Kuehnle’s proposed contract is attached to this article as a PDF.

The Ohio School Board Association has helped the district with the search for a new treasurer since Aug. 24. Before that, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center assisted the district since the previous treasurer, Rosetta Stephens, announced her retirement in May.

In August, the board was prepared to hire Annette Harmon, a treasurer from East Cleveland City School District. Harmon withdrew her candidacy Aug. 11 after a story detailed her acceptance of a $30,000 settlement after receiving poor reviews from the district’s board of education.

Mount Gilead schools treasurer Trevor Gummere was hired as an interim treasurer on Aug. 24 with a Sept. 1 to Dec. 31 contract. Board president Renda Cline said Gummere was one of the five applicants being considered for the position on Nov. 17.

Gummere withdrew his candidacy for the treasurer position on Dec. 15.

“There was an amicable not-meeting-of-the-minds. I have no animosity, nor do I think they do. I respect their decision.”

The board will meet in special session Tuesday after their reorganizational meeting, at 5 p.m. in the Raemelton Administration Building. The board will elect a president and vice president and swear in newly elected board member Sheryl Weber.

This is an employment contract between Robert Kuehnle and the Mansfield Board of Education. The contract is pending board action.
