Macie Restille is no ordinary sophomore.
When watching her play, a spectator might believe that she is a seasoned volleyball veteran, but she has only been playing the sport since she was in the seventh grade. Now, she is entering her second year on high school play for the Crestview Cougars.
In her freshman year, Restille shattered the school record for most points in a season. The record sits at 182 points obtained during a season and Restille set a new mark by racking up 215 points during her freshman year. In addition to the record for most points, she received honorable mention in the Firelands Conference.
She has no plans to take it easy. “I want to be a top player in the conference and I want to continue with the success I had last year with the team. We are a young team, but if we play our own game and play how we know we can play, we can be a top team in the conference,” said Restille.
Restille’s participation in two other two sports helps her to stay active during the offseason. In addition to playing volleyball, she also plays basketball and softball. “I play other sports throughout the year and that really helps me with staying in shape. We lift weights and we will occasionally go out to the track and run. We spend time working on foot work to make sure that we can move quickly across the floor,” said Restille.
“I have always enjoyed playing sports, but I love playing volleyball. My sisters and I used to play all the time at our house and I always had an interest in the sport,” said Restille.
Restille is looking ahead in her volleyball career. “I want to break more records during my years playing volleyball. I would also like to see the team win the conference and I really believe we could do it, if we put 110% into every game and practice communication with each other,” said Restille.
Restille is just a sophomore and including this season, will have 3 years left to play as a Lady Cougar. She does not want to stop at graduation. “I really want to play volleyball in college. I haven’t put much thought into where I would like to play, but I know I want to do it,” said Restille, “I just love the game.”
