MANSFIELD, Ohio – A Dodge Neon headed West on Grace Street in Mansfield reportedly lost control Monday afternoon, resulting in a crash which injured three individuals and caused damage to Greystone Lounge, located at 451 Grace Street.
According to Sergeant John Mahles of the Mansfield Police Department, the Neon held three young individuals. All were transported to MedCentral OhioHealth after the crash.
Sergeant Mahles said the driver ran through a red light on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Grace Street before losing control of the vehicle, resulting in the vehicle flipping onto its roof. Before coming to a stop, the vehicle hit a parked Dodge Ram truck and the Greystone Lounge building. The truck was unoccupied.
David Brenneis was stopped at the red light in his red Jeep Wrangler when the Dodge Neon zoomed by.
“That car must have been going 100 miles an hour. It flew by me, through the red light – thank God there were no children or cars – went airborne and I lost sight of him. I actually got right on the phone and called 911,” said Brenneis.
“When the light changed, I came over and saw it crashed into the Greystone Lounge,” he added.
Brenneis called 911 around 12:25 p.m. He said he was on his way to grab lunch at Mr. Hero in Madison.
The three injured individuals have not been identified.
The crash is still under investigation.
