Mary "Angie" Aplin

Mary “Angie” Aplin, 67, of Mansfield, died Sunday, December 28, 2114 at her residence. Born August 16, 1947 in Fostoria, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lawrence A. and Mary Catherine (Cleary) Scharf. 

She retired from the State of Ohio Bureau of Rehabilitation Services for the visually impaired and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Bell Choir. A generous, kind and gentle soul, she volunteered her time at St. Peter’s School teaching computer skills. She loved to travel, having been to Ireland, Mackinac Island, Kelley’s Island, Disney World and Washington DC. She also loved the arts, architecture and interior design, music and gardening but her greatest love was that of her family and she will be missed dearly.

She is survived by a son, Sean Aplin of Palm Desert, CA; two sisters, Kathleen Scharf of Chicago, IL and Paula Adsit of San Rafael, CA; a brother, Lawrence Scharf of Toledo, OH; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael (Donna) Sears of Mentor, OH; a sister-in-law, Ruthie Aplin of Concord, OH; a niece, Michelle Federico; and a nephew, Michael Sears. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Aplin; and a brother, Patrick Scharf.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield where a Vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
