John Kmetz, 88, of Mansfield passed away Jan. 10, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
John was born May 3, 1933 in Mansfield to John and Emily Moritz Kmetz.
He attended Mansfield City Schools and then worked at Ideal Electric for over three decades. John enjoyed watching television, especially Ohio State Buckeye football, and listening to jazz music. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but his true love was his family and spending as much time with them as he could.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years Louise Brucato Kmetz; children Andrea Kmetz of San Rafael, California, Georganne (Robert) Browne of Williamsburg, MI, Gina (Guy) Lannan of Mansfield, Tony (Jill) Kmetz of Mansfield, Ken (Christina) Kmetz of Mansfield; grandchildren Spencer & Olivia Kmetz, Emily Dalenberg & Nicholas Lannan, Jordan & Kaitlin Kmetz, Jay & Colin Kmetz, Nicholas & Cassidy Sirosky; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jay Kmetz; and sisters Emily Bradley and Louise Zgela.
The family will receive friends at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Vigil prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
