MANSFIELD — Donita Blasberg, is hoping the community can help her father out after a robbery occurred just before Thanksgiving at their venerable restaurant onĀ 811 Ashland Road.

Dan Blasberg, owner of Porkey’s, was taken to the hospital after the incident when his family thought he had suffered a heart attack.

But after a week in the hospital, his daughter said Blasberg told family members money from his wallet and personal money from a bank bag had been stolen. In total, Blasberg said upwards of $14,000 was taken.

A bruise on his head was also noticed by a family member, Blasberg said.

The Blasberg family said they filed a report with the Mansfield Police on Nov. 24.

Now, the family is hoping the community is able to donate to the 70-year-old restaurant through a GoFundMe page.

The page is hoping to raise $10,000 — less than the value of what was stolen.

“We need money to help us through the slow down (of customers) during the winter,” Blasberg said. “We need money for a new freezer and minor repairs we’d like to take care of before they become major repairs.”
