OLIVESBURG — St. Paul’s defense stood tall, and propelled the Flyers to a 14-6 Firelands Conference victory at Crestview on Friday night.

The Cougars hung tough early, and trailed just 7-0 in the second quarter on Justin Butler’s 42-yard TD dash.

Crestview closed to within 7-6 on quarterback Ross Kuhn’s 1-yard scoring plunge, but the PAT failed. The Cougars could not score again and the Flyers pulled away on Cam Caizzo’s 26-yard touchdown dash on a fourth-down play.

St. Paul (5-0 overall, 2-0 in the conference) has now won an incredible 48 consecutive games in league play.

Meanwhile, the Cougars fell to 3-2, 1-1. Crestview hosts Monroeville next week.
