LEXINGTON — The Ashland girls golf team topped a field of eight teams by winning the Lexington Invitational on Monday afternoon.
The Arrows shot a 318 to claim their sixth tournament title already this season. Coach Nancy Noble’s team has finished second in its other two tournaments.
Ashland’s Anna Watson was the medalist with a 3-under par 70.
“Anna Watson’s 3-under 70 was phenomenal,” Arrows’ coach Nancy Noble said.
Teammate Kira Moore was third with a 76, while Klaira Paramore took fourth with an 81. Other Ashland scorers included Sarah Anderson (92), Livia Sponsler (91), Abby Fossaceca (92), Alaina Reed (94), and Emma Packard with a personal-best 108.
Lexington finished second with a 339, paced by Amanda Ruminski’s 72, which was second only to Watson’s card. Clyde was third (380), followed by Lodi Cloverleaf (383), Wooster 9408), Norwalk (437), Ontario (449), and Van Buren (466).
“I am so proud of these girls and their play for the start of the season,” Noble said. “Eight tournaments in 15 days is pretty grueling.
“They are tough and ready to continue working hard.”
