The Ohio State University at Mansfield, and North Central State College, in partnership with the Richland County Development Group (RCDG), announced the launch of an online survey intended to gather community insights and there is just a few days left to complete the survey. The data will be used to assess campus and community relationships.
Dr. Stephen Gavazzi, Dean and Director at The Ohio State University at Mansfield and Dr. Dorey Diab, President at North Central State College agree on the importance of understanding and developing their schools’ role in the community.
“The Richland Community Development Group is pleased to partner with our campus in this Community Relationship Survey. RCDG focuses on citizen involvement in our community and makes every effort to solicit the advice and assistance of our citizenry. We applaud our campus for also taking this approach and we encourage everyone across the county to take part,” said RCDG Executive Director Bridget T. McDaniel.
A total of three benchmark online surveys will be employed and the first one, available here. The survey asks for responses from the residents and employees in cities adjacent to the campus–Mansfield, Ontario, and Shelby. Residents and employees within these cities are encouraged to complete the online survey any time by May 30.
The survey only takes approximately three to five minutes to complete.
Future survey target groups will include OSU-Mansfield staff/administration, Mansfield board members, faculty and students; NCSC staff/administration, board members, faculty and students. The campus surveys will be conducted in early fall.
“What we hope to get out of this is an understanding of how community residents and employers are currently looking at the relationship to our campus both in terms of the amount of effort that they see us putting into the relationship and the comfort level that people have with us,” Gavazzi said.
Diab stressed the importance of unity, stating, “If we are to turn our community around, we’ve got to come together and do that. OSU-Mansfield and North Central State College are very willing to take the leadership role to make that happen, but the leadership cannot make it happen on its own; it takes the whole team working together to do so.”
