Jean L. Russell age 97, resident of Shelby, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Primrose Retirement Community of Mansfield.
Born January 21, 1917 in Shiloh, Cass Township to Alto and M. Callie (Latterner) Brumbach she was a longtime Shiloh resident moving to Shelby in 1986. Jean was a 1934 graduate of Shiloh High School and a graduate of Oberlin Business College. She was employed as a legal secretary with Beam Law Office and later with Wilkins Air Force Depot. She retired from the Plymouth Shiloh School system as a secretary.
Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Shiloh Eastern Star. She was a loving, selfless mother who enjoyed traveling, reading and working crossword puzzles. Most importantly, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughters; Marsha (Craig) McQuown of Shelby, two sons, Edward (Jean) Russell of Shelby and James G. (Sherry) Russell of Lexington KY; daughter-in-law, Karen Russell (Dick) Mott of Huron; eight grandchildren, Paul (Julie) Russell, Scott (Danielle) Russell, Ann Van Meter, Heather (Benjamin) Simmons, Steven McQuown, Erin (Steven) Loranger, Megan (Dave) Shook, Laura Russell Reinbolt; nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo “Dyke” Russell, beloved son, Terry Russell, and two brothers, Robert O. Brumbach and Edward S. Brumbach.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
