Dakota Matthew Steagall, 20, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday night, March 8, 2017.

Dakota was born on Aug. 2, 1996, in Mansfield, to Phillip R., Jr. and Cheryl L. (Stevens) Steagall. He was precious to his family and friends, and had a big heart. He was a football player and wrestler in high school, and he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Cheryl Steagall and Philip Barber Jr., of Mansfield; his father, Phillip Steagall Jr., of Mansfield; four siblings, Dylan Crank, Dalton Steagall, Danielle Steagall, and Dylan Barber; grandparents, James Stephens, of Mansfield, Debra Stevens (Richard Gray), of Ashland, and James Stevens, of Mansfield; aunt, Bobbi Jo Stevens (Greg Toney) and uncle, Steven Stephens; one cousin, Austin Stevens; many extended family members; special friends, Travis Owens and Mikeal Shrader; and his dog, Kilo.

Dakota was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sharon Stephens.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at First Church of the Open Bible, 1150 Rayfield Dr, Mansfield, Ohio 44905. Werner Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Ave. East, is handling the arrangements.
