ONTARIO — The Friends of Maize Memorial Dog Park would like to invite fellow dog lovers to the first lecture series event on Sunday, March 26 from 1 to 3 pm.

Marie Buckingham from “The Gated Dock” will talk about dock diving from 1 to 1:45 p.m. and then answer questions for anyone who would like to start this activity with their dog.

Then Molly Miles will follow with her presentation, “Shed Hunting with your Dog.” This is becoming a popular sport and she will explain what it entails and how to work with your dog to get them started.

A brief community dog park meeting will follow from 2:20 to 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public in the community room at the Ontario Municipal building on Stumbo Road. There will also be hats for dogs from the “Violet Miles Collection” on display and available for purchase.

On Tuesday, March 21, Chipotle on Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario will donate part of every noted purchase from 5 to 9 p.m. to the Maize Memorial Dog Park. This is an easy way to help the dog park raise funds to the betterment of the park.

The plan is to add benches, shelters, landscaping and more. Just go into Chipotle and when you’re checking out, tell them you want to support the Maize Memorial Dog Park. It’s that easy.

The dog park is also beginning to offer Breed Days, where owners of a specific breed have an opportunity to meet. These will be on various Sundays posted on our Facebook page.
