Michael W. “Mike” Price, 63 of Galion, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home after a yearlong battle with kidney cancer.
Mike was born in Marion on June 6, 1953 to the late Clarence William “Bill” and Marthalee Joan (Fate) Price. He married Kathleen J. “Kathy” Miller on July 21, 2000 and she survives him.
Mike was a 1972 graduate of Galion High School and a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Galion. Throughout his life he was previously employed by Galion Mansfield Ambulance Service and Galion Iron Works.
He most recently worked for the City of Galion, working in the Electric Department, the Street Department and retiring from the Water and Sewer Distribution Department in 2014 after almost 30 years of service. For many years, Mike has worked for Miller Brothers Farms. He enjoyed the farm life so much that farming was never really a “job” for him.
He enjoyed operating all heavy equipment such as farm equipment, back hoes and shovels. He also had a passion for cooking and a special fondness for trains. There was a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, as well as all little ones in his life.
Known for his sense of humor, Mike had a way of always making people laugh and leaving them with a smile. Also a very generous man, Mike would never hesitate to help those in their time of need.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three step children that he treated as his own, Melanie (Brett) Griffin, of Huntersville, North Carolina, Beth (Chris) Bailey, of Shaker Heights, and Molly Beach, of Galion; his seven grandchildren, Ella Griffin, Rowan Griffin, Nora Griffin, Charlotte Bailey, Lucy Bailey, Tess Bailey, and Paige Beach; his brother, Jeff (Janice) Price, of Galion; his sister, Patti Kochheiser, of Galion; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
