David P. Konrad “Mouse”, 87, of Mansfield, OH, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 23, 2026.
He was born on May 26, 1938, in Aurora, Illinois, to William G. and Irene Konrad. From a young age, David was grounded in faith, learning to love and respect God. He was raised in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Aurora, where he faithfully served as an altar boy and usher—early signs of the servant’s heart that would define his life.
David graduated from East Aurora High School and went on to work for Northern Illinois Gas Company, where he built a career marked by dedication and hard work.
At the center of David’s life was his beloved wife of 50 years, Sharon Konrad (Kyncy). Together, they built a life in Batavia, Illinois, raising a family that became his greatest pride and joy—four children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and faith.
David will be remembered for his lively spirit and deep passions. Whether on the golf course, at the bowling lanes, or out on the water, he brought energy, determination, and a sense of fun to everything he did. His love of sports never faded; he could often be found cheering on his alma mater at football and basketball games, competing each summer in the NICOR golf league and each winter in the NICOR bowling league. Fishing, however, held a special place in his heart—so much so that he achieved six world records in the Fresh Water Hall of Fame. More than the accomplishments, it was the joy, stories, and time shared with others that meant the most to him.
That same enthusiasm carried into his role as a father and grandfather, as he took immense pride in watching his children and grandchildren compete, always their biggest supporter.
David’s faith remained a guiding light throughout his life. He became a devoted member of Gospel Assembly Church in Oswego, Illinois, serving faithfully on the maintenance crew, as an usher, and as an audio operator. After moving to Ohio, he continued his service at Gospel Assembly Church of Mansfield. He will be fondly remembered there not only for his dedication, but also for his warm smile and his daily tradition of wearing a different pair of novelty socks—bringing a little extra joy to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; daughter, Lynnette Konrad (Lloyd); sons, David A. Konrad (Shari), Jack Konrad (RoseAnne), and Eric Konrad; grandchildren, Michael Resnik (Carly), Jennifer Hamburger (Lance), Kristen Resnik, Cody Konrad, Crissy Konrad, Samantha Persaud (Avendra), Ryan Konrad, and Kylie (“Bird”) Konrad; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Irene Konrad; his brother, William A. Konrad; and his sisters, Marilyn Knutson and Irene Bluhm.
David’s life was a testament to faith, family, and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A memorial service will be held on May 2, 2026, at Gospel Assembly Church, 1100 S. Trimble Rd., Mansfield, OH. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:30 p.m.
A celebration of life will also be held in Illinois on June 27, 2026; time and location to be announced.
