MANSFIELD — The 13th annual Autumn Fiber Festival will return to the Richland County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18, bringing together fiber artists, small farms, makers and fiber enthusiasts for a weekend of shopping, demonstrations, education and creativity.

Located in the Arts & Crafts Building at the Richland County Fairgrounds, the festival will feature approximately 45 vendors offering a wide variety of fiber-related products, including hand-dyed and specialty yarns, natural fibers, handmade clothing and accessories, spinning and weaving supplies, rug hooking and braiding supplies, felting materials, fiber art, tools, unique gifts and more.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch fiber arts demonstrations throughout the weekend, offering an up-close look at the skills and techniques used to transform natural fiber into yarn, textiles and finished pieces.

Demonstrations provide an opportunity to meet experienced fiber artists, ask questions and learn more about traditional and contemporary fiber arts.

The Autumn Fiber Festival welcomes everyone — from experienced knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, rug hookers, rug braiders, and felters to those who simply enjoy handmade goods or are curious about how fiber products are created.

A popular part of the festival is the raffle benefiting the Richland County Jr. Fair Alpacas 4-H group. Festival vendors generously donate items that are combined into raffle baskets filled with yarn, fiber, handmade goods, supplies and other items. Members of the 4-H group also sell $5 alpaca and llama figurines during the festival as an additional fundraiser.

The Autumn Fiber Festival has a long tradition of giving back to the community. After festival expenses, remaining proceeds are donated to charitable and youth organizations, including the Matthew 25 Outreach Center and local 4-H.
