MANSFIELD — A $2.35 million property transfer marks another step toward bringing a new boutique hotel to downtown Mansfield.

116 Park Avenue West LLC purchased the former Holiday Inn property at 116 Park Ave. W. from Park Hospitality LLC, according to recently recorded Richland County property transfers.

Local investors plan to spend around $10 million renovating and redeveloping the 1984 hotel.

The project has already received a half-million-dollar tax credit through the Transformational Mixed Use Development program and approval for a 12-year, 75 percent property tax abatement from Mansfield City Council.

The hotel will continue operating as the Quality Inn & Suites Downtown Mansfield while renovations are underway, allowing it to continue serving visitors, businesses and community events throughout much of the construction period.

When the renovation is complete, the property will be relaunched as the Hearth & Forge Hotel, an upscale boutique hotel affiliated with Choice Hotels’ Ascend Hotel Collection.
