MANSFIELD — Officials marked another week of progress on the Main Street Improvement Project.
“We’re getting closer to the finish line, and we’re excited to see everything come together,” stated Downtown Mansfield Inc. in a press release issued Tuesday. “Thank you to our community for your continued patience, flexibility, and support throughout the project.
“We truly appreciate your understanding as we work toward the final result. We can’t wait to share the finished project with you.”
There may still be short daytime lane closures and traffic shifts as crews work, generally between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. All downtown businesses remain open and accessible.
Looking Back: Progress over the last two weeks
There’s been a lot happening throughout the Main Street Improvement Project. Over the past two weeks, crews have:
- Continued work on the north and south plazas, including walls, landscaping areas and soil cells for trees.
- Continued tree installation along Main Street.
- Prepared several areas for the installation of the new decorative brick pavers.
- Continued construction of the fountain and plaza walls, including installation of fountain plumbing.
- Continued storm sewer and drainage work near Park Avenue.
- Continued electrical work and programming for the new traffic signals and other technology throughout the project.
With Main Street open and the plazas, pavers, landscaping and finishing details coming together, you can really start to see the new downtown taking shape.
Looking Ahead:
Here’s what to expect over the next two weeks:
- Park Avenue and Main Street will be open to traffic shortly.
- Work continues in both plazas, including stone walls, sandstone pavers, landscaping areas and the fountain.
- Crews will be working near First Street and Newlon Place.
- Drainage work continues near Walnut Street.
- Electrical crews continue work on traffic signals and cameras.
- Installation of new signage continues.
