MANSFIELD — The announcement numerous Richland County drivers have been waiting for is here.

The Lexington-Springmill roundabout is open, according to Richland County Engineer Adam Gove.

“The intersection of Lexington-Springmill Road and Home Road is now open to vehicle traffic,” Gove stated in an email to Richland Source at 11:03 a.m. Tuesday.

“Due to a delay in the shipment of the permanent light poles, the intersection will be lit with temporary street lighting.”

The intersection will close again, at a date yet to be determined, to install the permanent streetlights, Gove said.

Motorists and Bike Trail users should use extra caution as traffic adjusts to the new intersection.

A separate road closure notice will be sent out once the date for the permanent streetlight installation is known.
