Ryan Lee Smith, A.K.A. Big Ryan, 47, passed through heaven’s pearly gates on Monday, August 24, 2026 after a short but valiant battle with a terminal illness.
Ryan was born in Mansfield, Ohio on January 17, 1979 to the late Sheila (Oakley) Mahon and his best friend and father, Leroy Smith who survives.
Ryan had a humorous and witty personality that everyone absolutely loved. Ryan was a fun, loving, charismatic person to all who knew him. You could always count on Ryan to lend a helping hand and he absolutely loved watching his Ohio State Buckeyes play with friends and family.
Ryan will be forever missed by his father, Leroy Smith; his sister and brother-in-law, James and Sarah Brown; two daughters, Alyssa and Ciara Smith; his wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom he loved very much. Ryan’s life was a blessing, his memory will forever be in our hearts and mind.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 1 PM at the Old Belmont Community Church, 1119 Belmont Ave., Mansfield, OH 44906. Pastor Noah Young will officiate and family and friends may call on Saturday from 12 to 1 PM.
