MANSFIELD — Local technicians at Safelite Auto Glass in Mansfield have assembled and donated 10 skateboards to Richland County Children Services (RCCS) to benefit local youth navigating the foster care system.
Safelite Out, the charitable arm of Safelite, has partnered with Foster Love to deliver skateboards to children in foster care, continuing a long-standing collaboration that has already provided 720 skateboards nationwide.
The initiative is part of Safelite’s multi-year partnership with Foster Love, which focuses on safety, stability, and a sense of belonging for children in foster care.
The skateboards donated by Foster Love, were assembled by Safelite Auto Glass Tech Trevor Dickerson. The skateboards also come with new helmets and stickers.
The community engagement team from Richland County Children Services (RCCS) officially accepted the donation and picked up the skateboards from the Mansfield business on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
RCCS extends a special thank you to Safelite Auto Glass Store Manager Phillip Starkey, technicians Trevor Dickerson and Devon Winter for their dedicated work putting together the skateboards.
Their care and kindness directly impact the lives and well-being of the youth in the agency’s care.
“We are incredibly grateful to Philiip, Trevor, Devon and the entire Safelite team and Foster Love for this generous donation, “said Brigitte Coles, Richland County Children Services, Community Engagement Supervisor.
“These skateboards provide our youth with a fun, active outlet and a sense of personal ownership during what can often be a challenging and transitional time in their lives.
“Community partnerships like this truly make a meaningful difference.”
The 10 skateboards and helmets will be distributed directly to youth in foster care throughout Richland County.
