Ronald “Ron” Hickson, 82, of Lexington, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on September 10, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Ron was born on June 11, 1944 in Delaware, Ohio. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and spent his professional career with Kemper Insurance and Case management at M.A.N.C.I.

Ron was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took great pride in his family. He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Hickson) Sanchez and Karena (Hickson) Singh (Nannu Singh). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cameron Sanchez (Mary Beth Schmidt), Gabriel Sanchez (Giuliana Sanchez), Javin Hickson-Singh, and Raina Hickson-Singh; great-grandson, John Sanchez and his sister, Luann Hickson Bay.

Ron had many passions throughout his life. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Lexington athletics and had a particular appreciation for farm equipment. He had a special love for dogs, his own and everyone else’s. Above all, Ron cherished his grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Catherine Hickson; his brother, David Hickson; his sister, Marilynn (Hickson) Cleland; his son-in-law, Jean Sanchez; and his grandson, Alexandre Sanchez.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on October 3rd, 2026 12:00PM, at Malabar Farm – Pugh Cabin, 4050 Bromfield Road, Lucas Ohio, 44843. A casual lunch of Ron’s favorites will be provided at 12:30, immediately followed by a time of reflection of his life and time to share.

Ron will be remembered for his love of family, his generous affection for animals, his appreciation for his community, and the lasting memories he created with those he loved.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Ron to the Humane Society of Richland County, Ohio, celebrating his love for dogs.
