Lizzie O. Long, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at Brethren Care Village.

Lizzie was born on October 3, 1931, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Finis Boyd and Hattie Mary (Pinkerton) Howell.

Lizzie’s faith was a very important part of her life. She was deeply involved in her church, Lucas Foursquare Church, where she found great joy and fellowship. She was also a very talented singer and loved sharing her beautiful voice with others.

One of Lizzie’s favorite things to do was shop. She truly loved shopping and enjoyed the time spent browsing, finding special things, and making memories along the way.

Lizzie will be remembered for her strong faith, her love of music and singing, and the joy she found in the simple things she loved. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

May her memory, her faith, and her beautiful voice live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Beavers; her son-in-law, Randy Hess; her grandchildren, Leslie Long Doan (Ryan), Jamie Hess Earhart (Victor), Stacy Long Parsons (Nick), Bret Beavers (Brit), and Matt Beavers (Julie); 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters; and her 2 brothers, Billy and Ricky Howell.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Lee Long; her son, James Boyd Long; her daughter, Marcie Annette Hess; her grandson, Wesley A. Hess; her 2 brothers, Earl and Ken Howell; and a sister, Johnnie Treese.
